An inventive Overwatch 2 fan has created a skin concept that turns Venture into an Inkling from Splatoon 3. In its near-two-year journey, Overwatch 2 has received exciting collaborations with famous names that have turned into content for Blizzard's shooter. Among this content is the skins released for the heroes of Overwatch 2, changing their appearance to characters equally beloved by fans of pop culture.
Overwatch 2's first big crossover was based on the hit anime One Punch Man, with heroes like Genji getting a Genos skin and Doomfist being turned into Saitama. More recently, another iconic anime collaborated with Overwatch 2, which released skins based on the space western Cowboy Bepop. Breaking away from the curve, Overwatch 2 also teamed up with LE SSERAFIM last year, adding several skins inspired by the popular K-pop group. Now, inspired by great creativity, an Overwatch 2 fan shared the idea of a skin inspired by another well-known brand that could become another special collab.
Reddit user FrickyRicky123 created a skin concept for Venture based on Splatoon 3. The fan art shows Venture with the typical facial features of the Inklings while wearing a jacket, pants, and shoes reminiscent of the colorful characters in the Nintendo shooter. The powerful drill Venture carries as a weapon has received a stylish makeover, with part of it transforming into the Rainmaker, a weapon that has the design of a fish and is available in one of Splatoon 3's modes.
In the comments, players praised the OP's work but lamented the low probability of the crossover happening. The reasons lie not only in past controversies between Blizzard and Nintendo, but also in the fact that Nintendo is known to be highly protective of its properties. Another Redditor noticed that Burrow, one of Venture's abilities, is very similar to the Inklings' Swim Form, one of Splatoon 3's mechanics that allows characters to jump between paints of the same color.
