Season 10 is coming with a multitude of new content, cosmetics, and quality-of-life changes to forever change the state of the popular hero shooter. With recent reports indicating that PvE, the entire reason for the sequel, is canceled, Blizzard has gone full steam ahead on optimizing PvP. Season 9 took the time to revamp the not-so-engaging ranked system from 's rough launch, implementing a new system that is more like the originals.
Season 10 includes a multitude of smaller changes that will make life easier for all types of players. The removal of group restrictions in competitive along with more player-avoid slots are the most popular options. Other changes to matchmaking include an anonymous mode that is mainly for streamers but can benefit all. Finally, a new system will allow players to earn a special currency that can be used to purchase a past battle pass Mythic skin.
After being delayed by one week, Season 10 of will release on April 16, 2024. Season 10 will come with two events, with one being the Pride event that runs throughout June. The other is specific to the theme of this season, which makes the characters switch sides in an alternate universe. Season 10 will run through all of Spring and wrap up for Season 11 around the beginning of Summer.
Venture is a Mexican-Canadian Archaeologist and the newest DPS joining the roster. The first new DPS to do so since the game-breaking hero Sojourn at the launch of the sequel. The lore behind them is they were excavating a site at Petra during a fight between Overwatch and Talon. They did take the side of Overwatch and help back Talon, but are not an official member of the hero team. Instead, their allegiance is to a third-party faction like other recent heroes, Lifeweaver and Illari, as Blizzard expands the world of.
