While it may seem like a gimmick more than anything else, the augmented reality feature of is one of the game's most iconic features as it allows users to envision pocket monsters in real life, even sharing their discoveries with a Snapshot feature. At the same time, the photography mechanic has always felt somewhat thin, the game's most recent patch fixes that.
Unveiled on the official blog, the game's most recent update overhauls the GO Snapshot mode to allow for more creativity and customization. For the first time since launch, up to three Pokémon can be featured in a single picture and players can either take photos of specific group sets or select which creatures they want to showcase, placing them anywhere they want. The update also introduces a toy that will enable Trainers to grab the attention of their Pokémon to ensure they're posing correctly when the shutter closes.
Pokémon GO allows players to trade Pokémon, which effectively transfers them to others. Pokémon GO does not allow players to trade back, though.
If there's one thing that can be said for certain about fans it's that they love taking pictures of their critters, so the introduction of photography modes like Burst and Timer should allow Trainers to get even more creative with their creations. still boasts a massive player base thanks to Niantic's excellent post-release support but the addition of a more robust Snapshot feature may be exactly what brings back some of those lapsed fans.
