Supergiant Games has confirmed that Hades 2 will be in Early Access until "at least" the end of 2024, although there are some big content updates planned before its full release.
When Hades 2 was first revealed at the tail end of 2022, it came as no surprise that it was following in the first game's fiery footsteps by launching in Early Access and slowly adding more content over time. That has raised some questions about how long the game is going to be in this state, though, as some players likely just want to jump into the full experience instead of seeing it pieced together.
After nearly a year of silence, Supergiant Games has burst forth out of the shadows and started being rather open about Hades 2's development status, starting with the sudden technical test that took place a few weeks ago. Now that the game is out in Early Access, we know what the team has planned for the full release and when we're likely to see it.
When you boot up Hades 2 in its Early Access state for the first time, you can read a message in the bottom right corner of the title screen that details how the game's development is going to go down. After reminding players that the game is still in development and may be subject to changes, Supergiant notes that it thinks that Hades 2 will be in Early Access for all of 2024 and might be ready for launch next year.
"We expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024. It's too early to say when our v1.0 launch will be until we have a good feel for Early Access development".
The notice also reveals that the first major update for Hades 2 is going to drop "later this year", although there isn't a specific date or timeline attached. We do know some of the major things that are planned for the game right now, though, as Supergiant Games lists a number of high-priority tasks it's going to be working on.
