A hilarious dinner scene from Step Brothers made the rounds on X where Scott’s Derek impresses the entire table with a story about his celebrity-filled fishing trip. When Dale (John C. Reilly) asks a question about the trip, the entire table is appalled by the interruption and for almost “ruining the story.”
Stiller shared the scene and wrote, “One of the funniest scenes in all of movies ever made in history of movies being made.” When asked if Scott’s performance in the scene influenced his Severance casting, Stiller wrote, “Completely. It’s when I knew he was an incredible actor.”

Severance is currently in the middle of airing its second season. Scott stars as Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries who underwent a surgical procedure called severance that separates his work (“innie”) and personal (“outie”) lives.
The Season 2 synopsis reads: “In Season Two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.”
Joining Scott in the cast are Britt Lower as Helly Riggs, Zach Cherry as Dylan George, John Turturro as Irving Bailiff, Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick, Jen Tullock as Devon Scout-Hale, Michael Chernus as Ricken Hale, Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey, Sarah Bock as Miss Huang, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Mr. Drummond, Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman, and Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel.
