Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi has said that further expansions of the card game Queen’s Blood are a possibility.
Speaking with Red Bull, the director cited extremely positive fan feedback for the in-universe card game.
“We haven’t decided anything in terms of future development for Queen’s Blood,” Hamaguchi said as part of the interview, “So far, the media who played it have provided very positive feedback on it, so we want to consider further expansions as a possibility.”
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Queen’s Blood is a card game where players place cards in three different lanes on a physical board. Each card has a number associated with it. Adding these numbers together gives the player their score.
The goal is to have the highest lane score in two out of the three lanes. Many cards also have special effects, which can impact the score of the cards, or the board itself.
VGC’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review calls the game “an utterly massive RPG pushed to its limit”.
We wrote, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an excellent RPG with some of the best characters in the gaming canon.”
“While some open-world content skirts the edges, and the game’s main narrative is left somewhat deflated, the time spent with Aerith, Tifa, and the gang makes this a hugely enjoyable road trip you’ll be playing for hundreds of hours.”
