A new era is arriving for Fortnite, and this one is going to be a little bit wild. Fortnite Wilds is the name of the new season for Chapter 4 Season 3, introducing players to various map changes and content. The best part is that its release is impending across all platforms.
As announced during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest livestream, Fortnite Wilds drops on Friday, June 9, 2023 worldwide. If the season follows the more recent trends of Chapter 4 seasons, it should last for about three months before giving away to a brand new one.
Wilds has quite a lot in common thematically and visually with a Chapter 2 season, Primal. During that season, players had a more feral and primitive island to check out, which had taken over wildlife. Fortnite Wilds has a similar theme, if the new reveal trailer is anything to go by.
From this preview, there is a fair bit of information that we can glean about the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3. Wilds will apparently feature some massive changes to the island, including what appears to be a large crater somewhere on the map.
This crater looks fairly massive, with various ruins, temples, and other structures throughout it. This return to a more untamed island also means the long-awaited return of the velociraptors from Chapter 2. The trailer shows a squad of players riding them, so it seems that players will be able to tame these creatures and use them as pets once again.
It’s uncertain if there will be other animals added to battle royale, besides the raptors, but there are a host of new characters who will be debuting on the island. The most surprising of these is the latest crossover character in the form of Optimus Prime from the Transformers universe.
