NVIDIA will soon be launching its GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card in 16 GB flavors, starting at a price point of $499 US.
NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB GPU may not be the performance per dollar champ when it launches and that's due to a $499 US price which is a $100 US hike over the 8 GB model. To make things even worse, ASUS will be launching its GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB graphics card in the ROG STRIX variant which will cost a further $100 US premium over the MSRP.
ASUS has just revealed that they will have a ROG STRIX OC variant of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB GPU. The 8 GB model of the same card comes at a $90 US premium over the reference MSRP which is set at $399 US. The 8 GB ROG STRIX almost matches the MSRP of the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB but wait till you hear what ASUS is going to charge for its RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB ROG STRIX variant. As reported by ITHome, the company will charge 4699 RMB which equals $650 US.
The reference MSRP for the graphics card within China is set at 3999 RMB or $550 US but the 800 RMB markup for the ROG STRIX means that it will essentially cost more than the RTX 4070 which makes it a really bad deal. That's a 17.5% increase in price and if the same premium is charged in the US, that would lead to a $580-$600 US pricing for US residents. And it's not like the card offers a huge performance increase with the ROG STRIX OC variant.
In TechpowerUP's review of the ROG STRIX RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB, the card only offered 4-5% better performance and the massive 2.5-slot and triple-fan cooler only yielded 3.5C lower temps than the competing dual-fan cards. The 4060 Ti doesn't require such huge coolers & even the Dual OC variant from ASUS themselves was running at sub 55C temps. You better just buy the most
