Xiaomi's RedmiBook Pro 15 laptops featuring AMD's Ryzen 7040HS APUs are now available and they might just be the best Phoenix laptops to get.
Xiaomi unveiled its RedmiBook Pro 15 Ryzen Edition laptops earlier this week. These laptops come packed with AMD's Phoenix "Ryzen 7040HS" APUs and are meant for a global launch, unlike the H-Series APUs which are limited to Chinese markets. The laptop will be available in two configuration models, one with the Ryzen 7 7840HS and the other with the Ryzen 5 7640HS. Besides the change in CPU, the rest of the specifications for both laptops are virtually the same.
Starting with the specifications of the Phoenix APUs, the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS comes with 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, a clock speed of up to 5.1 GHz & 24 MB of combined L2+L3 cache. It runs at 35W and 54W modes and features the Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units running at a clock speed of 2700 MHz. The AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS features 6 cores, 12 threads, a clock speed of up to 5.0 GHz, & 22 MB of combined cache. This chip features the same TDP but comes with a cut-down Radeon 760M graphics which packs 8 RDNA 3 compute units clocked at 2600 MHz.
Other specifications include 16 GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Besides that, it comes with a 3.2K (3200x2000) 120Hz HDR panel with 242 PPI and 100% sRGB coverage. It offers up to 500 nits of brightness. The design of the Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 15 is a CNC machined aluminum body that weighs 1.78kg and is 14.9mm wide. Cooling to the AMD Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" APU and the rest of the internals is provided by an internal dual-fan cooling solution with heatpipe tech.
I/O on the laptop includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, a single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.1
