Capcom has suggested that it's going to take its time for the next Mega Man game, noting in a recent investor's call that it's taking "care" when considering a new game.
Not counting HD re-releases and mobile projects like Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Dive Offline, it's been some time since we've had a brand-new Mega Man game. The last mainline entry in the series was Mega Man 11 in 2018 and before that, it was Mega Man 10 in 2010. Don't even get us started on Mega Man Legends 3...

It seems that we're still going to be waiting a while for the next big Mega Man release, however. As reported by TweakTown, Capcom was recently asked about the future of the series during an investor's call that took place yesterday. During that call, one investor asked about the future of Mega Man at Capcom considering the great sales of the Battle Network Legacy Collection, which released in April and sold over a million copies.
In response, Capcom said, "Including Mega Man 11, the latest entry in the franchise, Mega Man is one of Capcom's historic IPs and is loved by fans, and as such we want to take care in how we develop the series. We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc."
This seems to suggest that Capcom is well aware of how long it's been since the last Mega Man game and isn't looking to change that anytime soon. In fact, it seems like work on Mega Man 12 has yet to even begin properly, as the wording here implies that the team hasn't decided on a main
