Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite: OG will return at some point in 2024, presumably in response to requests from players for the original map to become a permanent fixture in the game.
Although most Fortnite players have their eyes on the game's future thanks to today's Big Bang event and the confirmation of all the big changes that Chapter 5 is going to bring, there are still a lot of fans who are having a great time with the past thanks to the Fortnite: OG mini-season, which brought back Chapter 1's map, weapons, and vehicles for a nice blast of nostalgia.
Fortnite: OG has been incredibly popular with the community, causing the game's all-time player peak to be broken not once, but twice. Since the mode was introduced, there have been a lot of requests for Fortnite: OG to be turned into a permanent game mode that's separate from the main Battle Royale.
Although that's seemingly not going to happen any time soon and we're all going to have to wave goodbye to Fortnite: OG later today, Epic does have some good news for anyone who was hoping to see more Fortnite: OG, as it has confirmed that the mode is going to make a return at some point in 2024.
Over on Twitter, the official Fortnite account tweeted, "Ngl the OG season far exceeded our expectations. So much so that we’d like to bring it back… *opens 2024 roadmap doc*. In the meantime, see you on the Battle Bus".
That might not be quite as good as making Fortnite: OG a permanent mode that can be played at any time, but it is the next best thing and does at least mean that players who prefer the olden days can come back to The Island whenever the OG season makes a return.
