The creators of Chrono Trigger met up in person for the first time in 30 years to discuss not only the future of the franchise, but to give praise to the newly released and highly acclaimed RPG Sea of Stars .
During the discussion, per Radiko as spotted by Genki on Twitter , the creators joked around about the possibility of a small-scale Chrono Trigger 2 that could be made either as a mobile game or for the Nintendo Switch. In the end, though, the devs said it would probably be something that would never happen, and if they did work together in the future it would be on a completely stand-alone project.
Before the conversation ended, Yuji Horii, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Kazuhiko Torishima took a moment to discuss the new story-rich RPG Sea of Stars. This game recently took the title as the best independent game of the year , so it's no surprise the seasoned developers wanted to give credit where it’s due.
Horii mentioned that the game looks very similar to Chrono Trigger and that the developers did a great job. Torishima found the game to be quite nostalgic, while Sakaguchi stated that the game looks the same and also agreed the developers at Sabotage Studios did a great job.
Chrono Trigger is a 1995 role-playing game that was developed by Square, now known as Square Enix. This was the first game within the series and was originally made for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. With so many amazing people on the development team, including Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, DRAGON QUEST creator Yuji Horii, and the creators of Final Fantasy , it’s a humongous compliment to the devs of Sea of Stars.
