When Sea of Thieves was released, it would get regular updates that varied in size. In 2021, Rare changed its approach to how it patched the game, opting for big seasonal updates. While these updates have also had assorted sizes, they each revolve around a key feature and a lineup of cosmetics in the in-game shop and Plunder Pass. Like other Battle Pass systems, the Sea of Thieves Plunder Pass has rewarded progress with unique customizations since Season 1. The Season 11 changes and Plunder Pass have now been released, offering players many things to do on their voyages.
Sea of Thieves Season 11 has begun on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
