Helldivers 2 has proven a smash hit on both Steam and PlayStation, as players fend off hordes of bugs with guns, explosions, and the kitchen sink. You'll need all of that if you want to survive, as Helldivers 2 is proving to be quite a tricky game when it comes to difficulty. Most players are making through the game with relative ease, though there is one type of mission that is proving a little too chaotic for players to deal with.
Escort missions are the absolute worst at the best of times, but when you're being bombarded with a mountain of automatons almost constantly, they can feel downright impossible. Head on over to the Helldivers subreddit and I bet you'll find a couple of people complaining about the difficulty of escort missions, with one post in particular by KissYourHomie becoming a breeding ground for complaints.
In this post, KissYourHomie says that the civilian escort mission in particular is "absurdly hard", especially on higher difficulties. To prove their point, they share an image of their game in which they're being absolutely obliterated by several large enemies, with their allies presumably also lying in a ditch somewhere as well. It's an opinion shared by quite a few people, and KissYourHomie's post has received a fair bit of support as a result.
Most of the complaints seem to boil down to the lack of anti-armor weaponry becoming available early, coupled with the game bombarding players with armored enemies like Hulks. Other players talk about their experiences of having to spam orbital lasers in order to get some breathing room, while others talk about having high-level squads with other team members, only to get decimated anyway.
With so many people complaining about the high difficulty, it's possible that developer Arrowhead will tweak things once it has more pressing issues under control.
