PS5 Pro Specs Leaked, Rumored For Holiday 2024 Launch

It's been a little while since the PlayStation 5 launched, and as we come up to the console's fourth birthday, talk of a PlayStation 5 Pro releasing later this year has been circling. We've had several rumors about an improved PS5 model coming soon, reportedly codenamed Project Trinity, though quite how it could meaningfully improve upon the base PS5, which is already a pretty impressive console, was up in the air.

Thanks to a new leak regarding the PS5 Pro's potential specs, we now know that the console may end up being a bit of a beast. YouTuber Moore's Law Is Dead was the first to reveal allegedly official documentation detailing the PS5 Pro's specs, but a further report from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson was needed to back up their claims as Moore's Law Is Dead doesn't have the greatest track record.

According to Henderson, the leaked documentation is real and details several impressive features that the PS5 Pro will include. For starters, the console will aim to display an improved and consistent frame rate at 4k resolution, and will also offer owners a new "performance mode" for 8k resolution and improved ray tracing. It will also reportedly include 33.5 teraflops compared to the original PS5's 10.28, making it roughly three times faster than the base model.

It's also claimed the PS5 Pro will come with something called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) which will be used for image upscaling, helping with the display of the aforementioned 8k resolution and improved ray tracing. We don't know what the console itself will look like or how much it costs, but we will likely get an official announcement this year.

On top of the leaked specs, Insider Gaming goes on to claim that Sony is still targeting a Holiday 2024 release date, though that could potentially shift due to the lack of PS5 exclusives lined up for release over the year.
