Helldivers 2 can be a tricky game at the best of times, with soldiers constantly fighting back against hordes of Automatons and Terminids bigger than buses. There are some enemies out there that strike fear into the hearts of Helldivers more than others though, and you'll struggle to find a more hated enemy than the Charger.
Not only are these Terminids extremely fast and charge down their prey with terrifying precision (kind of in the name), but they're also armored up from head to toe. That means they're very tough to take out of commission, especially if you're not equipped with the correct weaponry, and they've been nothing but the bane of Helldivers 2 players ever since launch.
It may have been a few weeks since then, but players are still struggling to find a reliable way to deal with them, as showcased by Reddit user Vaye_the_Cat below. Their post about them being way too strong for their threat level, and being forced to use certain equipment such as EATs, the Recoilless Rifle, and Railgun just to deal with them, has racked up a whopping 10k upvotes at the time of writing, with thousands of fellow soldiers also voicing their hatred for the Charger in the comments.
For example, another user called Turbulent-Resist-422 mentions disliking how quiet the things are despite their speed and massive size, calling for Arrowhead to at least make their footsteps a lot louder, so players know when they're being charged down. Others in the thread are calling for more anti-armor weaponry, so they don't have to constantly use the Railgun, and to make the Charger's backside an actual weak point.
While Arrowhead is probably working on more pressing matters, such as potentially adding APCs and mechs to the game, we do have soldiers coming up with ways to get around the Charger menace for now. For example, take Reddit user Reekinator below, who claims to have come up with an ingenious method of taking down Chargers with ease.
In the description, Reekinator urges players to
