Some Fortnite players are struggling to enjoy the Points of Interest in Chapter 5 Season 2, and they're making their displeasure known online. The iconic battle royale from Epic Games has been going strong since its launch in 2017 and continues to draw fans back in with new content and new competitive seasons. March 2024 marks the rollout of a new season for Fortnite along with new content and a new map layout.
Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 adds Greek Gods and brings other cool twists to the game that could shake up the competition and have players rethinking the meta. As with past seasons, this one also brings a new design for this chapter's map. These regular map changes switch up Points of Interest to keep matches fresh and, in theory, encourage players to check out different parts of the map. Some fans, however, feel that the changes this time around are having the opposite effect.
On Reddit, a Fortnite player going by Luniaz17 has shared a post criticizing the distribution of Points of Interest for the Chapter 5 Season 2 map, and it's received support from other fans. Specifically, the complaint is that POIs are primarily situated in a narrowband across the middle of the island, making most of the map empty and discouraging greater travel across it. The post includes a map with the region featuring all the major POIs highlighted, illustrating the point that most of the map is largely devoid of things to do.
Fortnite teased a new way of moving around the map, in the form of mythical wings, ahead of the new season but, based on responses to the post on Reddit, more than a few fans are feeling that fancy navigation methods are somewhat wasted on this map. Concentrated POIs are, for some, discouraging travel and keeping all combat within a relatively limited area of the map.
