Helldivers 2 Players, Prepare For The Launch Of The Illuminate
Super Earth's galactic war in never rests and based on some recent clips, the fight is about to become a whole lot more frantic. Following the game's launch, the community has already been spread thin fighting on two separate fronts in an effort to push back the enemy forces of the insectioid aliens known as the Terminids and the deadly robots called the Automatons. If that wasn't challenging enough a third faction is seemingly creeping into but it should be familair to anyone who played the original game.
Per GamesRadar+, over on 's Reddit, several players claim to have encountered a mysterious blue laser shot that is fired by an unknown shooter with a trajectory that would suggest a high vantage point, yet when upon investigation there's no evidence of any kind of assailant.
User teamplayer93 even shared video footage of one such incident wherein a blue laser is fired a few times, even connecting with massive Charger Terminid in the process. No known enemy in the game uses a weapon that fires a blue laser prompting the community to suspect that The Illuminate is quietly invading.
One of the main factions fighting over the galaxy in the original, the Illuminate is a species of highly-advanced aliens that uses hi-tech weapons and telekinisis to spread from world to world in an effort to expand their neural network. Developer Arrowhead Studios has yet to formally announce the group's arrival in the sequel but their existence has already been established. Several in-game news broadcasts have confirmed that The Illuminate is still active and looking to re-establish itself a as a major power, warning Helldivers to keep their eyes open for any signs of the alien creatures.
In the original, The Illuminate, also known as the Squ'ith were added as a post-launch update and served as a reference to The Covenant from the franchise. Aside from the telekinetic powers, they also used energy barriers to shield themselves from incoming fire, proving to be especially tricky.
