A Skyrim player online has shared a strange experience in which they're able to claim an unexpected dragon soul. Harvesting the souls of dragons is the main way to unlock shouts in Skyrim, so this would prove to be a welcome surprise for many gamers out there.
Strange happenings are simply part of the Skyrim experience. The game has plenty of mysteries that gamers are continuing to unravel, as well as a myriad of bugs that can cause events that are difficult to explain. For example, just recently, one Skyrim bug replaced all the NPCs in Riverwood with dogs, which, under any circumstances, is extremely strange. With the discovery of this bizarre dragon soul bug, it seems the game has a few odd occurrences left for gamers to find.
Redditor MajesticBread9147 shared the clip with the Skyrim community online, in which they fire an arrow at a Forsworn enemy. As it lands and kills the NPC, the effect for absorbing a dragon soul begins to play. Even as the player continues to look around, it isn't clear at all where the strange surprise is coming from, with no dragon corpse in the vicinity. It's clearly some sort of strange bug, but ultimately, MajesticBread9147 won't complain. Free dragon souls mean quicker ways to unlock shouts in Skyrim, making this quite a helpful bug after all.

One gamer suggested two possibilities: the player killed a dragon before traveling away with the game taking its time to give them the soul, or a dragon nearby being killed by NPCs and the game needing to assign the soul to someone. Both are plausible, but MajesticBread9147 refuted these ideas, claiming to have been in a cave for a while prior to the bug occurring. For now, this particular incident is destined to remain another of Skyrim's unsolved mysteries.
Gamers will have to wait and see if the shouts and dragon souls system makes a return for the upcoming sequel to Skyrim. Some
