One day after Arrowhead Game Studios launched Helldivers 2 version 01.000.008, the Stockholm-based developers released a follow-up patch that PC and PS5 players should download as soon as possible. The latest Helldivers 2 update, version 01.000.009, brought more fixes and stability to the game and addressed some reported crashes.
While the sudden success of Helldivers 2 put the long-awaited sequel on the map for gamers, it did not come without its share of growing pains. As the player count continued to rise on both Steam and PS5, Arrowhead Game Studios has kept players informed about its ongoing efforts to stabilize the game's servers. Due to its success, the servers of Helldivers 2 have been unstable, resulting in players receiving errors that indicate a failed connection to the game. In light of the growing pains, Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt has stated that the studio is doing all it can, including hiring more staff, to both stabilize the game's servers and to help with game content production.
In the meantime, the latest Helldivers 2 update should help with Arrowhead's continued efforts. Helldivers 2 version 01.000.009 was released one day after version 01.000.008 went live on Steam and PS5. The previous version update for Helldivers 2 was a support patch that addressed matchmaking filters to exclude full ones and to fix three major crashes that were related to particle rendering and ragdoll physics. With version 01.000.009, more crashes were dealt with. Crashes that could occur in both extraction cutscenes and while shooting the SMG-37 Defender gun in ADS mode were fixed. A matchmaking issue that caused invalid data transmissions was also addressed, and improvements to the game's lobby sorting and connectivity systems were made. The difficulty of multiple modes was adjusted, including the Eradicate mission, which saw increases in both the difficulty and the mission timer.
