While players may spend most of their time gunning down Terminids and Automatons, one fan is making the community stop and think about their actions. The over-arching story of the game sees the army of Super Earth charging around the galaxy in an effort to eradicate the evil forces that have staked their claim on some planets that are in need of some democracy and freedom. Yet despite the fervor Super Earth demands of its Helldivers, it's worth stopping to think about what it would be like to die at the hands of such an impassioned soldier.
A recent TikTok video created by kaponolangit speculates what could be going through an Automaton's head right before it wades into the line of fire and is gunned down by a squad of Helldivers.
The audio may not be official butit's a shockingly heartbreaking peek into what the terrifying androids could be thinking when they're not busy building new factories around the planets for which they're fighting. The Automaton admits that it's scared of the incoming invasion, noting that it longs to one day use all five human senses to experience the joy of sunlight.
Evoking the satirical tone of the classic sci-fi film, goes to great lengths to embed players in a futuristic society where the government demands its citizens to die in a «just» war when their real motivations are substantially more sinister. Some Helldivers have begun to question the nature of the Terminids, gigantic insectoid aliens, after several «illegal» broadcasts suggested the Bugs were created by Super Earth as an excuse to colonize other planets. Even the game's director Johan Pilstedt weighed in on the conversation, debunking rumors of flying bugs as nothing but propaganda.
