After all, it seems like the iconic action/adventure game Beyond Good and Evil will soon get the "remaster" treatment from Ubisoft, as the title recently got rated by the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee.
The remaster news of BG&E started to surface quite a long time ago. Still, Ubisoft officially confirmed it on the title's 20th anniversary, disclosing that gamers should gear up for a nostalgic ride of the action-adventure game. While the remaster edition did appear on Reddit through an early Ubisoft+ build, with seemingly disappointing graphics, Ubisoft ultimately refuted it, claiming that the footage that surfaced wasn't representative of the final product.
"As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyond Good & Evil, our commitment to delivering a game that meets the high expectations of our fans is unwavering. We're excited to announce that the official launch is set for early 2024, and we're dedicated to making it an experience that truly honors the legacy of the original. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
The rating by the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee does validate the fact that the development of the remastered edition is nearly completed. Although Ubisoft hasn't confirmed an official date yet, we should expect it somewhere in 2024. Still, the launch date has indeed been pushed ahead since it was originally claimed that we could see it in Q1 2024.
In terms of what to expect with the remastered version, there likely won't be too many changes, and it may follow the same trend as what we saw with other remasters. Still, it would be a refreshed version of the classic tale featuring beloved protagonist Jade.
Meanwhile, the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 remains technically active, except for the fact that we haven't seen anything concrete in over five years.
