Princess Peach’s long-time voice actor has confirmed that she’ll be reprising the role for the upcoming Princess Peach Showtime game.
Samantha Kelly first voiced Peach in the 2007 Wii game Mario Strikers Charged and has continued to provide her voice in the 17 years since.
However, given that Charles Martinet stepped down as the voice of Mario and Luigi last year, and that the critically acclaimed Super Mario Bros Wonder had Kevin Afghani stepping into the role instead, some Mario fans were curious if the same would happen with Peach.
These concerns appear to have been addressed by Kelly herself, who was recorded telling a fan at the Torg Gaming Expo in Ohio that she would be in Princess Peach Showtime.
Althoughthe video was originally uploaded shortly after the Expo in November, it has only recently started being shared on Twitter, as spotted byNintendo Life.
In the video, recorded by YouTuber THEQueenG22, Kelly is asked: “Are you the the voice of Princess Peach in the new upcoming game?”
“Yeah,” Kelly replies. “I’m really excited for it, she’s never had her own game like this before.”
Princess Peach Showtime is set for release on March 22 and sees Peach transforming into various outfits, each with their own abilities (similar to a Kirby game).
Earlier this week, Nintendo also announced plans to launch a Pastel Pink Joy-Con set alongside the game.
Showtime marks the second time Peach has starred in her own game, the first being Super Princess Peach on the Nintendo DS.
The 2005 title was a 2D platformer in which Peach could use her emotions as powers – for example, by crying, she could water beanstalks to make them grow.
