Elden Ring sales have surpassed 23 million units globally, publisher Bandai Namco has revealed.
Yesterday, Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware finally revealed the release date for the highly-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. With the announcement came a brand-new trailer showing intimidating bosses, new areas, and more.
Interestingly enough, the official press release from Bandai Namco also includes sales numbers for FromSoftware's masterpiece from 2022. As mentioned in the press release, Elden Ring has shipped over 23 million units of the game globally since its release back in February 2022. Shipped means that units that have been either shipped to retailers or copies that have been downloaded. "The total figure is derived from distribution figures of the package version and sales figures of the downloadable versions including those for the PC game platform Steam", the press release reads.
Back in February of last year, we reported that Elden Ring had sold over 20 million copies in its first year. This implies that Bandai Namco and FromSoftware managed to 'sell' another 3 million copies in the span of one year.
Elden Ring is available worldwide now across PC and consoles. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion releases worldwide on June 21. Here's what we wrote about Elden Ring in our launch review back in February of 2022:
