Kai ‘Kai’ Collins, better known online as yung_kai, has gotten his Blizzard Entertainment account banned following suspicions of cheating in Overwatch 2 mid-game. This turn of events has left the Overwatch 2 pro player surprised and disheartened by the decision.
Blizzard Entertainment prides itself on protecting customers from disruptive behavior while creating a fun, fair, and enjoyable platform for everyone. As a result, it actively suspends and bans player accounts for violating its forum policies and Code of Contact. These violations range from using bots and cheat software to exploitative activity and unauthorized account access. For the most part, Blizzard has done an excellent job at banning players, but many have reported receiving wrongful bans and suspensions in some cases, including an Overwatch 2 player allegedly banned from Quick Play.
During a mid-February stream, Kai received a notice of account closure for his Blizzard account. The notice cited cheating as a reason for the ban, informing the player that the previous game had been canceled and that no win or loss would be recorded for either team. There has been a fuss following Kai's ban, which may have causedOverwatch 2 player count drops. The former OWL star has denied these claims, stating in a post on Twitter, “Banned mid-game for detected cheats. While Kai isn’t one of the biggest Overwatch 2 streamers, he has grown a massive and respectable community of fans online.
