A new gameplay trailer has been released for Tekken 8, with grizzly brown bear Kuma being the focus of this one. In the trailer, we first see Kuma lay into his long term rival and enemy, Paul Phoenix, before the fight changes to a one between Kuma and Panda. Kuma proposes to Panda with a salmon, gets rejected again, beats Panda up, and then declares he is getting married all giddy like. Not the sign of a healthy relationship.
Kuma’s move set borrows from Heihachi’s, which makes sense since Heihachi is Kuma’s master in canon. You can see some of the moves in the gameplay footage, along with some of Kuma’s unique moves. One of his special moves is whacking his opponent away with his salmon, and while they are in the air the salmon turns into a missile, doing more damage. It is a move that will likely draw some attention.
Looking back on the last game, Tekken 7, we awarded it a mighty 9/10 in out review, saying: “Tekken 7 is a phenomenal fighting game experience and one I’d highly recommend. It’s by no means perfect, as the game is not without a few technical issues online, some long loading times, and minor continuity errors, yet as far as most people will be concerned, it delivers a stunning, up-to-date fighting game experience from one of the masters of arcade fighting games. A solid return to form.”
The full game release for Tekken 8 is on 26th January 2024.
