MachineGames unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at the recent Xbox Developer_Direct, confirming that the first-person action-adventure game will be launching later this year. Plenty of gameplay was showcased and new details were shared- along with who will be playing the titular role, which, of course, is a question that many have asked since the game was first confirmed to be in development in 2021.
As reported by EW, though Harrison Ford’s likeness is being used for the character, he is being played by Troy Baker, known primarily for his role as Joel in The Last of Us (among a host of other credits through his long career).
MachinesGames’ co-founder and lead game designer Jerk Gustafsson said of Baker’s portrayal of the archaeologist, “He really brings forward that charm and sense of humor in such a good way. He’s also a very big Indiana Jones fan, which is super cool. So he’s also very invested in the game.”
Gustafsson went on to talk about how Baker has contributed to the game’s development in other ways as well, like adjustments and changes to the script, setting up scenes, and more. “He’s not only a very good actor, he also contributes quite a lot to actually make the game better,” he said. “When we go through with those, there’s a lot of adjustments and changes, not only to the script itself, but also to how we set up the scenes, how we set up the cameras. Troy is much more a part of the development team than we usually see just because he’s in those blocking sessions.”
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches for Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year. It will also be available via Game Pass at launch.
