In a public statement, Nintendo said that owners of the 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS, and New Nintendo 3DS LL (XL) systems in Japan will end once the company runs out of the necessary parts. While no direct timetable was given for when Nintendo would run out of 3DS parts it has in stock, the company recommended that any users needing a fix to their system should reach out as soon as possible.
The move aligns with Nintendo's planned shutdown of online services for the 3DS and Wii U consoles. The shutdown will occur on April 8 at around 4:00 p.m. Pacific, but users will not have as long to transfer any remaining eShop points and funds to their Nintendo Accounts. In early 2021, Nintendo announced it would stop offering repairs on the original Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL models due to similar part unavailability.
This latest announcement from Nintendo came nearly one year after the closure of the 3DS and Wii U eShops globally. The company did not state when it would run out of the necessary parts but encouraged users
