It's almost the end of 2023, which means developers across Japan with upcoming games are releasing end-of-year statements to provide updates on their myriad of projects. Konami is no exception, a publisher which is currently working on a bunch of Silent Hill titles, including the highly-anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2.
In Konami's statement to Japanese outlet 4Gamer, Silent Hill producer Hajime Okamoto asked fans to "wait a little longer" for news regarding the other Silent Hill games currently in development, including Silent Hill 2 Remake. We still haven't been given any updates from Konami since the game's announcement, but Okamoto's comments suggest we'll finally get one at some point in 2024.
It's been pretty frustrating for Silent Hill fans currently begging for even the smallest update from Konami, with Silent Hill 2 developer Bloober Team itself seemingly frustrated it can't share anything. It recently blamed Konami for the lack of updates regarding the title in a slightly passive-aggressive tweet to a fan earlier this year, explaining that communication is "definitely part of their job".
At the very least, I think Silent Hill fans will be keen to learn whether Silent Hill 2 Remake has the potential to be another stinker like Silent Hill: Ascension. It's a game that's been mocked relentlessly ever since launch, and considering it's the only official Silent Hill title that's been released for over a decade, expectations for the publisher's other titles aren't exactly sky-high.
Hopefully, Okamoto's promise that fans will only have to "wait a little longer" is kept, and we will actually hear something about the game in 2024. We still don't have a release window for any of the Silent Hill games currently in
