Baldur's Gate 3's first act arguably gives you the most freedom of the entire game. Made up of three different regions, it's easy to miss some of the side content, as there's just so much to do before you advance the main story.
One path you can take will bring you to the Myconid Colony, where you'll meet Sovereign Glut. Without getting into too much detail here, Glut will let you use his unique ability, Animating Spores. This resurrects a dead NPC to do your bidding, letting you control them in combat. Typically, you'd use this to take down enemies as part of Glut's side quest, but as one fan has discovered, there's nothing stopping you from nabbing corpses from all over Act 1 to join your undead army.
This is exactly what Reddit user The_Shadow_Watches did. They were even kind enough to share their findings with the rest of us, making a list of all of the characters they killed and brought back to Glut, letting us see what abilities they have and how we could use them in battle.
"For some reason, during my Honor mode, I decided to experiment with Glut's [Animating Spores] by collecting various bodies and graciously donating them," says The_Shadow_Watches. "I did not use any glitches or bugs to do this. Just [an] 18 STR Paladin and a 20 STR Barbarian on my PS5."
The full list of characters that they brought back is very, very, very long. But it really does have to be seen to be believed, so I'm embedding it below. Enjoy.
So, there you have it. If you're struggling with a fight, just get Glut to reanimate the Phase Spider Matriarch, and all of her attacks are yours. I haven't tried this myself mind you, so I can't speak to its effectiveness. But it's certainly a unique strategy and one that the devs probably didn't expect players to use.
This is far from the only wonderfully weird discovery that a player has made recently. Earlier this week, we reported on what might be the rarest NPC in the game, Honk. Honk is a backup NPC for Henk, the server at the Singing Lute
