An unofficial Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Unreal Engine 5 remaster was revealed with two gameplay videos showing Rockstar Games how it's done.
The unofficial remaster, created using a few mods for the map and custom cars by Flames per Second, retains the original art style of the game, improving on it in several ways. While this fanmade remaster isn't visually groundbreaking, it captures the spirit of the original release rather well, showing an amount of love for the game that is nowhere to be seen in the official remaster.
The Grand Theft Auto San Andreas official remaster was included, alongside the GTA 3 and GTA Vice City remasters, in the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. While the collection was improved with a few post-launch patches, it still leaves much to be desired, as highlighted by Nathan in his review. Hopefully, Rockstar Games will look at previous entries in the series once GTA 6 is out, as well as unofficial works like the RTX Remix modded version and remake or remaster them as they rightly deserve.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition collects some truly groundbreaking games that still provide their share of nostalgic fun, but little has been done to make them shine here in 2021. Ultimately, a shoddy visual upgrade, choppy performance, and a lack of meaningful updates or extras may leave you questioning why you loved them in the first place. Perhaps this collection can be brought up to snuff with updates from Rockstar (or modders), but for now, its Wanted Level remains low.
