A new theory surrounding one of 's suits could predict an upcoming story in Insomniac's Universe. Throughout all three of Insomniac's titles, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales have had collectible suits inspired by their appearances in comics, movies, and TV, alongside Insomniac's own designs.
[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the Marvel’s Spider-Man games.]This roster changed somewhat between and its predecessors. For example, some fan-favorite suits, such as Peter's symbiote suits, were left out of the earlier game because Insomniac opted to save them for its planned Venom-centric sequel, while other suits that did appear in and weren't included in to ensure a balanced amount between the two heroes.
As spotted by Jaimemarvel, Peter's suit appears differently in the Suits menu. Whereas all of the other thumbnails for the suits feature Spider-Man looking slightly to the right of the screen, the suit sticks out because it's the only one that stares straight forward at the player.
The suit is adapted from Dan Slott's comic book run of the same name, in which a dying Otto Octavius «killed» Peter and placed his own consciousness into the hero's body. During this time, Otto believed he could be a "" Spider-Man to Peter, and takes on many of Peter's former foes, namely the Sinister Six, while also attempting to "" Peter Parker's personal life as well. Unlike Peter, however, Otto goes too far at times and publicly executes villains, such as Massacre. Ultimately, Otto sacrifices himself to restore the original Spider-Man — whose consciousness wasn't completely removed, just subdued — in order to save New York City.
Insomniac introduced Otto Octavius as Peter's mentor in, with the two developing an enhanced version of prosthetic limbs before Otto's transformation into Doctor Octopus.
