Fans tend to grow impatient waiting for titles and begin to bombard developers or actors with demands on an update — something that happened with Insomniac and on many occasions — especially if the title has been announced years before its intended release date. On the other side of the issue, developers often want to make the best game they can, and may need more time to do so as games have increased in scale, but can be pushed by publishers to meet a set release window for increased sales.
Previously, voice actors such as Tony Todd, who voiced Venom in stated that 90% of his work wasn't in the finished game, leading fans to speculate that it would be included in another Venom-led title or DLC. Recent leaks have also shown that Insomniac had to remove certain features such as environmental damage across the game's open world, or levels such as an additional fight with Venom in the streets of New York that match some of the game's promotional material. It's also well known that features such as New Game Plus and Mission Replay weren't in the game at launch, with Insomniac having to add them in a patch, despite these being included in its predecessor at launch.
