Spider-Man fans really don't like the Spidey suit that is being used in Marvel Rivals, with complaints directed at how overdesigned it is and the lack of a prominent emblem on the back.
Alongside superheroes like Batman, Wolverine, and Superman, Spider-Man has one of the most beloved and recognisable costumes in all of comic, film, and gaming history. You'd think it'd be easy to design new Spider-Man suits considering there's such an iconic base to work with but, as any Spidey fan knows, that isn't always the case.
Over the past few years, it seems like every new Spider-Man suit that is made for new versions of the hero gets criticised for many of the same reasons. Whether it's Marvel's Spider-Man, Square Enix's Avengers, or the MCU's version of the character, it's rare that Spidey fans end up being happy about how a costume ends up looking. Just look at the reaction to Miles' Evolved suit and you'll see what I mean.
You can probably already tell where this is going, but it looks like Marvel Rivals is the next game to suffer the wrath of unhappy Spider-Man fans. Just a few days ago, NetEase revealed its Overwatch-esque multiplayer game to the world and gave us our first look at its version of Peter Parker, complete with a unique interpretation of Spider-Man's costume.
Although the Marvel Rivals version of Spider-Man does have shades of the classic design with the big eyes and focus on red and blue colouring (which is basically a must for a Spidey suit), it also goes in its own curvey direction by having weird-shaped shoes, a pointy spider-emblem, and a lot of random splashes of black in between the red and blue.
I can see why the Marvel Rivals Spider-Man suit isn't to everyone's liking and agree that it's a bit overdesigned but, just like how I felt about the Evolved Suit, I like an original take on a Spidey costume. They can't all just copy the classic one, after all.
