Christopher Judge Will Host The Best Performance Award At TGA
thegamer.comLast year, Christopher Judge won Best Performance at The Game Awards for playing Kratos in God of War Ragnarok. But it's not the award that people remember most, it's how long his speech was. Breaking a world record, Judge spoke for seven minutes and 59 seconds. It ran so long that the teleprompter reportedly said, "Please wrap it up".
Given how iconic that moment became, it's only fitting then that Judge returns this year to hand the new Best Performance winner their award.
Announced by Geoff Keighley on Twitter, that's exactly what's happening this Thursday. And as expected, the response has mostly been, 'I hope he doesn't take as long handing out awards as he does receiving them'.
"If you guys wanna know how long the show is this year, probably better to ask Chris," Keighley joked.
As always, there are six nominees for this year's Best Performance award. They are as follows:
One of those nominees will walk up to the stage and be handed a Game Award by none other than Judge. Maybe they'll even try and break his world record for longest speech.
"I'm honoured!" Judge said, quote retweeting Keighley's ann. "Plus there's a few people I forgot to thank".
During last year's Game Awards, Valve gave out Steam Decks for every minute the show ran. Since Judge's speech went over time, that meant seven extra Steam Decks were given away, as confirmed by TGA's socials.
Many are, as you'd expect, joking that the same will happen this year with the newest model. Even Keighley jumped in, replying to Judge while tagging Valve, "Better get some Steam Deck OLEDs ready".
The Game Awards will go live on December 7 at 5pm PT.
