With The Game Awards 2023 now squarely in the rear view mirror, it's time to reflect on what was shown during Geoff Keighley's big end of year bash. Criticisms of the format and actual award presentations aside, the event did give us some significant game reveals.
Last week, we asked the Push Square community to vote on the best announcements or reveals from The Game Awards 2023 — and the results are in! Below, you'll find the top ten showings, based on a total of 3,388 votes.
10. Metaphor: ReFantazio (Release Window Trailer) — 131 votes (4%)
9. Exodus (Reveal Trailer) — 134 votes (4%)
8. Light No Fire (Reveal Trailer) — 172 votes (5%)
7. Jurassic Park: Survival (Reveal Trailer) — 213 votes (6%)
6. Monster Hunter Wilds (Reveal Trailer) — 223 votes (7%)
Square Enix had said that details on Final Fantasy 16's paid DLC would drop before the end of 2023, and so all eyes were on The Game Awards in anticipation. Thankfully, the team delivered, and we got a rather rousing reveal trailer. The footage looked great, but what really won people over was the immediate release of the first expansion, Echoes of the Fallen. A very effective shadow drop, and The Rising Tide will tempt players back in Spring 2024.
Black Myth: Wukong has been hovering around for what feels like an age. Everything we've seen of the project has looked extremely promising, but developer Game Science has always refused to pencil in a release date. That is, until this latest trailer. Yep, Wukong still looks stunning, and now we know when it's coming. Whether the game actually sticks to August 2024, we'll have to wait and see, but for now, let's just pretend that it's 100% happening. Finally!
