Overwatch 2 has confirmed that Mauga and Orisa will get changes to adjust their power level. Overwatch 2 is always changing to make the meta as balanced as possible, although it's not uncommon for heroes to become headaches for players.
Orisa received a rework for Overwatch 2 and became a lethal pick thanks to her high survivability and crowd control. She has since been nerfed, but before that, Orisa was considered overpowered due to changes that made her kit broken. Joining the ranks of Overwatch 2 late last year was Mauga, a new hero whose playstyle focuses on aggression. It didn't take long for the Samoan tank to also be labeled as broken for reasons such as his life steal, damage, and ultimate. Mauga and Orisa are considered good picks for Overwatch 2 players wanting to master the tank role, but the duo are due for changes soon.
Overwatch 2 lead hero designer Alec Dawson confirmed that more changes to Mauga and Orisa are on the way. Dawson said on his Twitter that one of the development team's thoughts is to transfer more of Mauga's power to award aggression. For Orisa, the dev revealed that she's due to a look «in terms of where the power budget» is allocated. The Numbani protector has already begun to receive changes in this direction with the removal of falloff damage in the most recent patch. Mauga, Overwatch 2's biggest controversy in Season 8, got harsh nerfs to curb his firepower.
As well as confirming additional adjustments for Mauga and Orisa, Alec Dawson commented on the current state of the Overwatch 2 meta following the release of patch 2.8.1.
