Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League excited fans when it was first revealed, but many were disappointed to find out that it would be a live service. Now, one of the game's leads is reassuring fans that these online elements will pay off, saying that there will be a year of free content updates after launch.
Of course, the wording here leaves the door open for paid content to be added after this first year. Rocksteady hasn't confirmed this, but given that we've been told to expect 12 months of free updates, we might want to expect some kind of paid expansions long after launch. Either that, or updates will continue to be free, and the devs just haven't mapped it out that far yet.
"It's really important to us that we're generous with the people who play our game," says product director Darius Sadeghian, speaking with Play Magazine (via GamesRadar+) "For the first year after launch we've got masses of new content that will be completely free for people who own the game."
On a positive note, Sadeghian says that this first wave of updates will include new playable characters. He stresses that the new members of the Suicide Squad will be "unlockable for all players for free", so it won't be hiding these new ways to play behind a paywall.
While unconfirmed by Rocksteady, a leaker has also stated that Suicide Squad will take us to Gotham in one of its updates. The insider, Miller Ross - who was a solid source of information about Marvel's Avengers when that was running - says that this will be added in season 3. If real, this means we can probably expect it to be part of the free updates that Rocksteady is referring to here.
