During the December 2023 Forged in Aeternum Balance of Power community Q&A, the developers of New World teased “a lot” of new content that could be coming in 2024.
There were a few major concerns that surfaced about the major focus of the game being only for the first few months of the year, and creative director David Verfaillie touched on the topic to reassure the players. He stated that though the team at Amazon Games has been working their behinds off in order to provide a great start to the year, they haven’t forgotten about the rest of the years content either. Though Verfaillie did not address the exact concern, they did defend the 2024 roadmap .
The beginning of the year will bring new cross-world expeditions, changes to the group finder, th new season trial Winter Rune Forge, and new artifacts. Alongside those changes, there will also be new gamepad support and the return of two events: Springtime Bloom and Rabbit’s Revenge.
The developers also discussed the diversity of OPR matches, stating that they did notice a lot of players seem to favor ranged classes. On top of that, they realize that healers may not be equally distributed amongst teams since the matchmaking is not as good as it could be, which is why they “could be” planning on changing that in May 2024.
