It's been almost two years since Master Chief got some, and nothing has been the same since. We live in a world where Mr. Halo himself has got laid, a very different characterisation than we get in the games. It made headlines, it shocked the world. Now, it turns out that we weren't the only ones who felt that it was a little ridiculous.
Ahead of Season 2, Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber shares his thoughts on the Halo sex scene, and they're not positive. Speaking with SFX magazine, Schreiber says he "fought again" the scene, and that the romance arc was a "huge mistake".
"The decision to make the connection between Makee (Charlie Murphy) and John a romantic connection was a huge mistake," says Schreiber in the interview, as reported by GamesRadar+. "I felt it was a huge mistake at the time and I argued against it and fought against it."
He adds that he "wasn't listened to", but concedes that it wasn't his job. "I don’t write the scripts. I only give my opinion."
The Halo show also gave us a peek at Master Chief's bum. It was a weird time.
We don't often see actors be this brutally honest about a show they're on - especially when they're in the middle of promoting its new season. The first two episodes of Season 2 are set to premiere on February 8, after which we'll get one new episode every week until March 21. There will be eight episodes in total, with the finale simply called Halo. It remains to be seen if the show mixes up its writing for Master Chief, given the backlash to the first season. Or maybe he'll have even more sex, we'll just have to wait and see.
Sex-related controversy aside, Halo performed extremely well, being the most-watched show on Paramount Plus in 2022. This isn't too surprising as the hate was very online, and Halo as a series has huge name power, even with general audiences.
