Nintendo has revealed all of the new content that's coming to the Switch remake of Mario vs Donkey Kong, including two brand-new worlds, a "Casual" difficulty mode, and a two-player mode.
Over the past few years, Nintendo has been on a bit of a remake kick, giving us new and updated versions of games like Super Mario RPG, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. That is a trend that looks to continue in 2024 with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, and, kicking off the year of remakes, Mario vs Donkey Kong.
As has been the case for all of the other remakes so far, Mario vs Donkey Kong isn't just going to improve the graphics of the original game and let it be playable for a new audience - it's also going to make some changes and improvements to the original that make it the definitive version of the game.
The first trailer for Mario vs Donkey Kong didn't really show any of this off and made it look more like a prettier version of the original game, but a new trailer just shared by Nintendo reveals how much about the remake has changed. One of the biggest bits of new content is the addition of two brand-new worlds, Merry Mini-Land and Slippery Summit, which feature "new enemies and distinct play mechanics to keep you on your toes".
We get a brief glimpse of these new worlds in action as part of the trailer, with Mario seen climbing through an amusement park level and an ice world. These new worlds aren't all that Mario vs Donkey Kong is introducing, though as there's also a two-player mode that lets one player control Toad as they help Mario out through the puzzles.
