Ubisoft Montreal has announced For Honor Year 8, revealing plans to add a host of new content and features to their flagship 3D fighting game. This includes new heroes, maps, modes, and cosmetics as well as core changes to the game fans will welcome.
Year 8, titled “Forged in War”, is weapon-themed with a fancy new Hero Skin being added each season, delving into the backstories of famed For Honor warriors. The first of these, The Unsung Knight, will be available when For Honor Year 8 Season 1 launches on March 14th. While they don’t offer any combat bonuses, Hero Skins are a premium cosmetic option that allow fans to dress up their favourite heroes, The Unsung Knight being a Warden skin based on an early cinematic trailer for the game.
Y8S1 will also add the time-limited “Last Hero Standing” 1v1v1 game mode, as well as a new battle pass. Speaking of which, Ubisoft will be bringing back older passes, giving players another chance to unlock their themed cosmetics. The cool twist here is that those who already purchased passes can continue their progress.
Arcade Mode is also going free. Previously locked behind a paywall with the Marching Fires expansion, everyone can now play this fun PvE mode that pits heroes against a gauntlet or increasingly dynamic challenges.
Following the recent launch of the Varangian Guard Viking hero, Ubisoft confirmed that 2 additional fighters will be joining the For Honor roster over the next 12 months. The first, joining the Samurai faction, will be available during Y8S3 with the second, described as a villain, will come much later in the year, joining the Outlanders.
New Dominion maps are also coming. Ubisoft will be repurposing a number of existing battlefields from other game modes.
For Honor is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with cross-play multiplayer enabled.
