A clever Dragon’s Dogma 2 player has released a mod that helps make recognizing the Dragonsplague much easier. Dragonsplague has proven to be one of the most controversial mechanics in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and players are doing what they can to make it a little less frustrating.
Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a mechanic that has the potential to ruin any playthrough. It’s a disease that pawns can catch, with only very subtle signs that they have contracted it. On top of this, how it works is never fully explained to players. If it isn’t caught and dealt with in time, the pawn can turn into a dragon, and slaughter an entire village. This can include important quest-giving NPCs, and can potentially ruin an entire playthrough if it happens at the wrong time. It has been a controversial addition, to say the least.
The mod was created by rthomasv3 on Nexus Mods, and is extremely simple. When a pawn contracts Dragonsplague, a counter appears on their head. This displays their current level of Dragonsplague, so that players can figure out when they need to deal with their pawn. As a result, players would no longer need to look out for the small number of Dragonsplague symptoms in Dragon’s Dogma 2. According to rthomasv3, the mod is totally safe to use while online too, as it simply reads a value and draws a number at the pawn’s location.
It’s early days at the moment, but the signs are good for Dragon’s Dogma 2 to have a healthy modding community in the future. As seen with titles such as Skyrim, this can extend the lifespan of a game far beyond its initial release period, if the community is there to support it. Already, there have been a bunch of amazing Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods to address many of the community’s issues with the game so far, and it’ll be exciting to see what more comes in the future.
