A new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has given us a very brief glimpse at Homelander, including showing off his two fatalities and letting us hear his voice for the first time. No, we're not sure if it's Antony Starr, either.
Although the original Mortal Kombat characters who were offered in Mortal Kombat 1's first Kombat Pack haven't been the most exciting (and were even seemingly cut from the launch roster), the third-party fighters like Peacemaker and Omni-Man have been a big hit. As great as those two were, though, there's one that has easily stood out as the most anticipated - Homelander from The Boys.
Ever since the first Kombat Pack was revealed, Homelander has been the most talked-about character, although not always for the best reasons, as it's long been suggested that Antony Starr wouldn't be returning for the role. This controversy, along with how popular The Boys has been in recent years, has had fans patiently waiting for his full gameplay reveal and release date.
Following a recent tease from Ed Boon on Twitter that gave us our first look at Homelander in action (which some fans weren't all that happy with), we've finally been given another look (and listen!) at the upcoming guest fighter for Mortal Kombat 1. The very short trailer was shared at CCXP Mexico and then released by the official Mortal Kombat accounts.
Although we don't get to see what Homelander actually looks like during gameplay, we do see a ton of references to The Boys within the trailer. The first is during his outro, which shows him sipping on a little bottle of milk just like he does in the show. And yes, it's just as unnerving here as it was there.
One of the best details of the trailer is that, before selecting Homelander on the select screen, he's shown creepily posing for the cameras. Very in-character.
