The sprawling romances of are part of what makes it so intricately beautiful — but if you get too caught up in your various courting of the bachelors and bachelorettes in the game, you’ll miss the rifts and drama happening between the already-married couples in Pelican Town. It seems the 1.6 update added some new dialogue showcasing some discontent in Robin’s marriage to Demetrius.
Players know that Demetrius is arguably more married to his research than he is to his wife — and it seems Robin has noticed this, too. Reddit user reanocivn shared a screenshot of some new dialogue added to the game, which is triggered the day after the mysterious green rain. “” she gripes.
This same discontent is echoed in a cutscene already in the game, where Demetrius calls the posts on Robin’s four-poster bed “an inefficient use of materials.” She snaps back, “” It’s an awkward interaction that makes everyone in the house a bit uncomfortable, but it seems ConcernedApe is playing into their marriage woes in this new update.
It’s a well-known secret that Mayor Lewis and Marnie are romantically involved, even if Lewis refuses to bring their relationship to light. There’s also plenty of speculation that Caroline cheated on Pierre with the Wizard, resulting in Abigail being his illegitimate child (and explaining why she has purple hair). For the most part, Robin and Demetrius seem to have a well-blended family, but the 1.6 update digs a bit further into the couple’s cracks.
Demetrius is Robin’s second husband, and players who have a high enough friendship with either half of the couple will notice books like “Maximizing Your Second Marriage” and “Practical Tips For First-Time Step-Dads” on their shared bookshelf in their bedroom. Sebastian, who is Robin’s child from her first marriage, will comment to the player about how he feels Maru is favored over him, particularly in the winter. “,” he’ll tell the player if they're close enough.
