Unreal Editor for Fortnite has received new assets that allow enthusiasts to make their own LEGO Creative Islands. Their arrival has been accompanied by the release of three additional LEGO Islands in Fortnite.
This development marks another milestone in Epic Games and LEGO Group's ongoing partnership, which was envisioned as a long-term project meant to usher in a comprehensive digital «metaverse» geared toward child-friendly entertainment. While the collaboration was originally announced in April 2022, it is still in its infancy; its first result only arrived in December 2023 in the form of a LEGO-themed survival crafting Fortnite mode, aptly called LEGO Fortnite.
That experience was later expanded with the addition of two new LEGO Fortnite game modes, Raft Survival and Obby Fun, which debuted in late February. Epic and LEGO are now following up on that move with the release of Unreal Editor assets that let anyone create their own LEGO-themed Creative Islands. The pack was announced during the third day of this year's Game Developers' Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.
Accompanying this developer-facing release are three additional LEGO Fortnite Islands that players can access as of today. Fans interested in a combat-focused experience can hop into LEGO Battle Arena, which will allow them to learn the ways of Spinjitzu and test their martial arts prowess against other players, all the while marveling at a digital take on a dojo inspired by the LEGO Ninjago line. Those looking for something a bit less fighting-oriented can instead turn to the new Fortnite prop hunt map arriving in the form of a picturesque LEGO Island.
