Blizzard has released a hotfix for Overwatch 2 to fix a Season 10 bug impacting Genji's ability to wall climb. Each Overwatch 2 season introduces fresh changes to the game, including new cosmetics, maps, or heroes, but Season 10 has caused some issues for Genji mains.
Just like its predecessor, Overwatch 2 has been updated many times since its release. Fixes and balancing are often implemented in patches that extend beyond the scope of seasonal and mid-season content. Seasons are released every few months, with Season 9 focusing on a new map called Skyline Sanctuary and the debut of Arcane skins for Hanzo, Mei, and Zenyatta. Overwatch 2 Season 10 kicked off on April 16, and it features a fresh hero named Venture, the Mirrorwatch Event, and unlocks seasonal heroes for all players. Some gamers have noticed an issue with a key Genji ability, but Blizzard has already released a hotfix for it.
Lead Overwatch 2 Gameplay Designer Alec Dawson recently stated on Twitter that a Season 10 hotfix has been issued. According to the developer, the small fix is for the wall climbing ability specifically affecting Genji which was spotted at the launch of Season 10. Before the hotfix, players were reporting that Overwatch 2's Genji was unable to climb walls after double jumping. Dawson also confirmed that Blizzard is working on fixes for bugs of differing priority levels, which may suggest that this wall-climbing glitch was vital.
Given how mobility-focused Genji is, double jumping and wall climbing are both key to his arsenal. With players unable to combine the two, this impacted certain combat encounters and the ability to traverse some areas of Overwatch 2 maps like Junkertown, Paraiso, and Watchpoint Gibraltar. Genji mains can combine double jumps with wall climbing to quickly get around chokepoints and flank opponents. The combination of traversal abilities is also often used to escape deadly scenarios, making the early Season 10 glitch potentially game-changing for some Genji
