Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received a new update that adds a 40 FPS mode for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Ubisoft's latest open world adventure game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was released just before the end of 2023 and has mainly been praised for its stunning first-person visuals. Set in the timeline of the blockbuster films, Frontiers of Pandora gives players control of a young Na'vi as they escape and fight back against the RDA.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launched late last year, giving players on consoles and PC a total of five graphics options to choose from: Ultra Performance, Performance, Balanced, Quality, and Ultra Quality. Like any quality mode, Avatar's caps the frame rate at 30 FPS for players who prefer crisper 4K visuals. Its performance mode sacrifices resolution for a higher, smoother 60 FPS gameplay experience. This has become standard practice for almost all AAA video games, and gamers have come to expect to be able to choose their preferred graphics mode.
Ubisoft has now added yet another frame rate option for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora players on consoles. Title Update 3.2 brings a 40 FPS mode to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and even Xbox Series S. This new graphics option serves as an optimal middle ground for players who may not have screens that support 60 FPS but want to upgrade from 30. Avatar's new 40 FPS mode will allow players to do this while somewhat maintaining the Quality mode's crisp resolution.
Frontiers of Pandora's 3.2 title update brings more to the table. Some minor bug fixes include players' controller remap settings resetting each time the game is launched, game crashes, and misspellings. The patch also addresses some larger issues, like the Shadows of the Past quest breaking while in co-op, and NPCs disappearing near the edge of players' field of view. The update even adds a new fast travel point to Research Station Alpha, helping players get around Avatar's massive open world a bit easier.
