Since its release on Tuesday, Diablo 4's Season 4 has received a more than positive community response. However, more and more players who have reached the endgame are noticing a massive Gold bottleneck when interacting with new progression systems like Masterworking.
On Twitter/X, Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher has acknowledged the issue and stated that the development team is discussing it internally:
With the introduction of Season 4's itemization changes, Blizzard massively increased Gold costs across a majority of progression systems. For example, both Imprinting and Enchanting are much more expensive than before; however, Gem Crafting really showcases the hefty increase in Gold costs: Crafting the final tier of a Gem (like a Royal Diamond) set you back 50,000 Gold in earlier seasons of Diablo 4.
In Season 4, this crafting step alone costs 1 Million Gold — a 2,000% increase.
As a result, players will not only run out of Gold fairly quickly — they also haven't been given «new ways» to farm Gold in Season 4.
One of the most efficient ways of farming Gold is by completing Grim Favors and opening Tree of Whisper Caches like Collection of Chaos or even Greater Collection of Chaos. But who wants to run Whispers in the endgame when they could do Pit runs or defeat Tormented Bosses and interact with new progression systems instead?
What would be a good way to increase Gold values without destroying the economy? Should players be required to trade away their items and collect the Gold they need to interact with systems like Masterworking and Enchanting? Let us know in the comments!
