Telltale Games has given a very brief update on The Wolf Among Us 2 and confirmed that it's still in active development at the studio, although fans are still hesitant to get their hopes up too high.
The death and resurgence of Telltale Games has been a very long and confusing affair, but there was at least one undeniably exciting announcement to come from the studio's return - the announcement of The Wolf Among Us 2. The first Wolf Among Us was one of the most beloved games from Telltale and something that fans have been wanting to see more of ever since 2013.
As great as it initially seemed that Bigby Wolf was getting another adventure, things have soured a little bit in recent years. Since being announced at The Game Awards in 2019, we've not really heard all that much about the upcoming sequel which, when combined with Telltale Games suffering layoffs in 2023, had many fans worried that it had been quietly cancelled.
Yesterday, IGN published a report on the internal struggles of Deck Nine, the studio behind Life is Strange: True Colors. Although the report mainly focuses on the many issues that the team faced while making True Colours (including Square Enix reportedly saying it didn't want it to be viewed as "the gay game"), it also dives into Deck Nine's relationship with Telltale Games.
For those that don't know, Deck Nine was previously working on a pre-production script for The Wolf Among Us 2, but was pulled from the project due to issues at Telltale. In IGN's report, a statement from Telltale Games gives a very brief update on the development status of The Wolf Among Us 2, confirming that it's still in production despite the deafening silence.
"[The Wolf Among Us 2] remains in production internally at Telltale. We value our relationship with Deck Nine and continue to explore ways we can work together".
